We all have “those days.” You know the ones I’m talking about. Where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, everything seems to go wrong and you struggle to keep it together throughout the day.

(Actually, I just had one of those days yesterday but who’s keeping track??)

As I have started digging deeper into spirituality and our relationship with the universe, one of the things that I have come to realize is that we are in control of how our day goes. Every single day.

From the moment we open our eyes to the time we go to sleep at night, we are completely in charge of our mindset, our energy and our vibe. When you are filled with negative energy then you will attract negativity.

Let me explain.

Have you ever noticed that when you do have a day that seems to just go all wrong, how are you feeling? Are you happy and feeling positive? Or are you frustrated and annoyed? Chances are, you go through your day with a negative attitude and might even be counting down the hours until the day is over. Sound about right?

10 Ways To Turn Your Day Around

What this does, is create even more negativity. It is like a ripple effect. You wake up and stub your toe, then your coffee spills, you’re late to work and so on. Your vibe and your energy creates your reality.

The more negativity you feel, the more negative things will happen to you.

So, with this in mind, what if you woke up the same way but knew how to change your mood? What if you were able to stop the negativity from completely consuming you and ruining your day?

What if I told you that you 100% have the ability to do this? That you have the ability to take a negative situation or negative day and transform it? Because you do! It is up to you to decide what kind of day you are going to have…every day!

If you find yourself having “one of those days,” I want to share with you little things you can do to turn your day around! Do one or two of these and I promise, you will feel your mood lighten!

1. Affirmations.

One of the best ways to change any negative thought or negative energy running through your body is to use positive affirmations. Affirmations are powerful and positive words or sentences that, when repeated often, can completely re-frame your thinking. When you find yourself in a negative space, pick two or three affirmations that speak to you. Sit quietly for a few minutes and repeat them to yourself or out loud. Do this as many times as you need to until you are able to release some of that negativity!

2. Accept & embrace the negative energy you are feeling.

The more you try to fight the energy, the more focus you are putting on the negativity. Instead, accept the feelings. Embrace them. Let them wash over you and really feel them. Once you are able to do this, you can start to let go of the negative vibes and attract more positivity into your day.

3. Read a good book.

Take 20 minutes out of your day and sit down with a good book. Immerse yourself in the words and feel the story. Try to eliminate as many distractions as possible so you can just focus on the reading. This will help you re-focus your thoughts and let in a new vibe!

4. Tackle a task.

It may seem counter-intuitive but when you are in a negative mindset, it is the perfect time to tackle a task on your to-do list. Clean something. Declutter a drawer. Update your website. Finish a DIY project. Completing a task will feel productive and help shift your mood!

5. Move your body.

When you exercise and move the muscles in your body, chemicals called endorphins are released into your body that counteract the feelings of depression, sadness or pain. And similar to tackling a task, it may seem like the last thing you want to do on a not so great day but will make you feel AMAZING!

6. Get outside.

There is just something about looking up at the sky, hearing the birds chirp and feeling the earth under my feet that just takes me to the most peaceful place. Even if it is pouring down rain, grab your umbrella and a coat and get out into the fresh air for a few minutes. Put your phone away on a sunny, warm day and breathe in the scents of nature!

7. Journal about your feelings.

When you are in the midst of a tough day, sit in a quiet spot, grab your journal and write down what you are feeling. Even if it is just a few bullet points of the things that are flowing through your mind, getting it out of your head and onto paper can help you let go of the negativity and continue with your day with a clearer vibe.

8. Turn on some music & dance it out.

I dare you to have a bad day after blasting some music and dancing it out! Put on your favorite music, turn it up and dance the most ridiculous dance you can! (You might want to do this alone unless you don’t mind other people seeing you dance your little butt off.)

9. Indulge in some self care.

Paint your nails. Put on a cute outfit. Do your makeup. Whatever makes you feel good, do that. I know it can be hard to take the time for yourself but even 10 minutes of something that makes your heart smile has the power to turn your day around!

10. Practice gratitude.

Last, but definitely not least, remember that there is always something to be grateful for. No matter how dark the day gets, there is always a light somewhere. When you are filled with negativity and going through a tough day, it can be almost impossible to find the silver lining in the day. But I promise you, it is there. Take a few minutes to look around you and find all the beauty in your life. Focus on all the positive that surrounds you and let go of the negative!

I know it may seem impossible some days to find the positivity or get out of the negative mood you are in but, you and only you have the power to do that. It is up to you to decide what kind of day you will have! Choose wisely!
