Winter is in full effect here in NJ!
Unfortunately for some people, like myself, with the gorgeous and peaceful snowfalls comes dry and uncomfortable skin. My hands tend to get the most dry, even cracking around my fingernails which hurts SO bad! (Probably TMI but I am just being honest!)
Since I have super sensitive skin, I am very cautious when it comes to trying out new products. I have four moisturizers that are my go-to, especially in the winter, and that I use on a regular basis! They are gentle on your skin and have never made me red. I also have a few things that I have found make such a big difference in keeping my skin healthy and as moist as possible.
First, let’s dive into my favorite moisturizers and where you can buy them!
This is my all-time favorite moisturizer! I started using it a few years ago and buy it again and again. This moisturizer is really great for super dry skin! It has a thicker formula and stays on all day. Aveeno is a favorite of mine, it is the only brand of moisturizer I will use with my nighttime routine, and is perfect for sensitive skin! You can grab this moisturizer for $7.99 at Target.
I got this beauty in the FabFitFun winter box and oh my gosh you guys, I am in love! This moisturizer is definitely not as budget friendly, 3.4 fl oz is $24.00 at Ulta, but it really is worth every penny. I was a little apprehensive about trying this, I didn’t want it to irritate my skin, but it went on so perfectly! I have not had an issue with this product and I don’t think my hands have ever been this smooth in the winter! I use it twice a day, sometimes three times depending, and I have seen huge improvements. I highly recommend grabbing a bottle if you have dry skin like I do!
Coconut and Hemp Seed Oil Body Lotion
I know I say it all the time but.. I just love TJ Maxx! My husband actually bought this moisturizer, I have him hooked on TJ Maxx now too, and it is AMAZING! This moisturizer is very light on the skin and smells so good! Infused with tea tree and mint, this has been soft on my skin and helped combat a lot of the winter dryness. He recently purchased the body wash that goes with this moisturizer, but I haven’t tried it yet! You can grab a bottle of this for $5.99 at TJ Maxx.
I just love Aveeno! This moisturizer is a little different than the 24 hour skin relief product. This one is a lot lighter and I tend to use it more often throughout the day and on a daily basis than the other. Aveeno products are fragrance free and so wonderful on sensitive skin! I have the 12 fl oz bottle and it lasts me a good amount of time! You can buy this size at Target for $6.99.
Now that I have talked about the products I use, I want to share with you three things I do that have REALLY helped my skin during the winter!
1. Moisturize right out of the shower
As soon as you step out of the shower and are dried off, lather on that moisturizer! What a difference this makes! Plus, is there anything better than getting out of a relaxing shower and making your skin soft?
2. Put socks on after moisturizing your feet
I have a pumice stone that I use in the shower twice a week! After I have used the stone, I use the Aveeno 24 hour moisturizer on my feet. I immediately put on a pair of socks to trap the moisture in! I usually take the socks off after about half an hour and when I take them off, they are so soft!
3. Use Vaseline on those really dry spots
Okay, this may sound weird but stay with me! Like I said at the beginning of this post, my hands seem to get the brunt of the dryness in the winter. Around my nails gets very cracked and it is really painful! After I am done moisturizing, I put Vaseline on the cracked spots around my nails. It may sound strange but it is SO effective! I don’t do it everyday but probably three times a week! You won’t regret it if you try it!
Do you get dry skin in the winter? Have you tried any of these products? What are your favorite moisturizers? I would love to hear from you! XOXO
