I can’t believe we are already thinking about Spring Break! I am so excited for warmer weather to arrive here in New Jersey and to see flowers and green grass everywhere I go.

The week that the kids have off from school for Spring Break is such a fun time of the year. There are so many awesome places you can go and activities you can do as a family but sometimes, when you are on a budget like we are, it can be difficult to find things that you can afford.

If you are like us and want to make new memories with your kids this Spring Break but are limited because of your budget or just are looking to save money, I have some ideas for you!

I have been on the hunt to plan some fun things to do with my daughter this year and I want to share them with you. Each idea is either free or inexpensive so they will fit in almost anyone’s budget!

Check Out A New Library – Free

We love the library! We tend to stick to the same library in our town and we don’t generally try any different branches. I am planning to take my little one and check out at least one new library during Spring Break this year!

Picnic In The Park – Free

Who doesn’t love a fun picnic?! During the winter, we love setting out blankets and having a picnic in the living room. Find a local park, bring your lunch, put your phones away and enjoy the warmer weather and spending time together.

Matinee Movie – Inexpensive

We don’t go to the movies very often because let’s face it, it’s expensive! Whenever we are in the mood to watch a movie, we plan a little movie night at home. For Spring Break, it would be so much fun to catch a matinee which is way cheaper. Get out those movie times!

Story time – Free

When my daughter was little, we tried out a bunch of different story times at both libraries and book stores. This is a perfect free activity to do with your little ones. Barnes and Noble has a really cute story time with crafts afterward!

Melissa & Doug Decorate Your Own Butterfly Magnet Craft – Inexpensive

My daughter got this as a gift for Christmas and loved it! I am planning to get her another kit because she had so much fun painting and decorating the magnets. Kids of most ages can enjoy this craft an you may want to join in on the fun too!

Activity Bucket and Craft Ideas – Inexpensive

If your kids are like my daughter and just love doing crafts, this bucket is for you! I have one in my Amazon cart for Spring Break. There are over 400 pieces in the bucket and 10 craft ideas for your little ones to enjoy. Sit down one day together and craft away!

Paint A Birdhouse Kit – Inexpensive

Before the weather really starts to warm up and the birds are out in full force, take some time this Spring Break and paint a birdhouse! What better way could there be to celebrate the beginning of Spring? Get creative and have fun together.

Have A Scavenger Hunt Outside – Free

My daughter and I did this a few years ago and she still talks about it! All I did was grab a piece of paper and write down a few things for us to look for and then found a little basket to put items in. We went outside and spent as long as we wanted finding all the different items and talking about each of them. Lindsey Blogs has a great checklist that includes a free printable to take with you!

Make Slime – Inexpensive

Oh slime! In her stocking for Christmas this year, my little one got a starter kit with everything she needed to make slime and let me tell you, she was in heaven. It was one of the first things she opened and we made some that day. Check out this kit from Amazon that has everything you need and is a great price!

Build A Fort And Have A Movie Night – Free

I don’t know about you but we love making forts in our house! My daughter grabs chairs, blankets, pillows, toys and more and we set up an elaborate fort with a door in the living room. Pop in a movie, make some popcorn and hang out in the fort together one night during Spring Break. Pick a movie no one has seen yet and have fun!

What do you have planned for Spring Break this year? Do you stay home or go on vacation? Comment below! XOXO

  1. These are all such great ideas! We did a bird house last year and the kids LOVED IT! I think we’ll have to try building a fort next, we haven’t introduced our kids to the awesomeness that is indoor fort building yet!!
